CATALONIA UNDER SPANISH MILITARY PRESSURE

Catalonia, as a European region, nowadays is under Spanish military pressure. Colonel Francisco Alaman promised to crush Catalonia if this nation chose independence. This Spanish colonel added weeks ago: “Independence for Catalonia? Over my dead body,... even if the lion is sleeping, don’t provoke the lion, because he will show the ferocity proven over centuries”. This is a deeply-rooted thinking in large parts of the Spanish armed, Spanish president and Spanish government. Catalonia hasn’t army and any terrorist force, on the contrary, Catalonia has been peaceful for getting its independence. Why is there this Spanish reaction against Catalonia in a democracy? If the majority of people from Catalonia wants the independence, why will Spain attack this state with the army? Is it democracy? Or perhaps, will Spanish dictatorship come again? People from Catalonia don’t hate Spain but Spain imposes its military power over Catalonia. At the moment, there aren’t aggressive actions from Catalonia to Spain, on the contrary, colonel Francisco Alaman swears to attack Catalonia if unity of Spain concept is dissolved. In any case, there were a lot of independence Spanish territories which colonel Alaman should attack. Portugal escaped from Spanish during eighteenth century and Cuba during nineteenth century. But not only Portugal, Cuba and South America became independent from Spain recently. Nowadays Gibraltar belongs to United Kingdom and Rosellon to French. Why doesn’t Spain fight for these Spanish regions? Perhaps United Kingdom and French are big and powerful nations while Catalonia represents a nation without army. In fact, Spain receipt from Catalonia between 20 and 30 per cent of its taxes which doesn’t come to this region. Moreover this taxes are spent in new airports in Spanish desert regions who anyone use it, in expensive train lines (AVE) at the north of the country without enough costumers and in sophisticated armaments for the Spanish army which want to attack Catalonia. Europe Union as a democracy state is a big project but Spain doesn’t understand anything as a feudal province at south of Europe.
